Public and private security authorities today have technology that has exponentially increased the collection of information that is necessary to manage so that it is the foundation for the management of the knowledge necessary for prevention, crime control, criminal investigation and criminal prosecution of the criminals.

The management of information and knowledge requires processes and procedures to reduce the efforts and times of searching, obtaining and organizing information and thus giving way to a greater dedication to processing it. 

Also, all the actors must conceive the availability, accessibility and reliability in the use of the information to satisfy the information requirements and support the actions of all the authorities of public security and justice.

The volumes of information and the tools available require that we increasingly move from decisions based on perception, intuition to ones based on data and evidence that reduce subjectivity and the biases of those who want to have the solution to a problem.

Identify, learn and develop a comprehensive vision of information management procedures and knowledge of activities associated with crime.

To participate in the course, it is recommended that the participant have basic knowledge of Panamanian criminal law, in relation to information management and organized crime treaties that provide for sharing and exchanging information.

Taking into account that the diploma will be carried out virtually, the following aspects are important:

  • User-level computer knowledge in video conferencing tools such as Meet, Teams, Zoom, as well as Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari (macOS) browsers. Microsoft Edge.
  • Management of computer tools such as word processors, spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Have your own email account and consult it regularly.
  • Read the guides for participation in the different activities.
  • Attention to detail, self-learning and commitment to develop the activities assigned during the academic process.

The seminar on Information Management and crime analysis will be carried out with the support of virtual technologies, it has been designed and built so that the participants (students, teachers, supervisors) can interact permanently and easily, which allows the appropriation and construction of knowledge, in addition, synchronous meetings will be held with teachers, where doubts and concerns they may have with the exposed material can be resolved.

The training has an intensity of 40 hours that will be carried out during the period of one (01) month, in which self-learning activities, collaborative work and synchronous sessions will be developed. The schedule of the program is set out below:

Month: 1
Self learning: 16 hours
Synchronous 2 weekly meetings of 2 hours: 16 hours
Core Work: 8 hours

This course will be developed by two teachers, Professionals, members of international professional associations, with certified experience in the field and training in technological tools for teaching.

The evaluation of the diploma is framed within a continuous evaluation of learning, where the participants, through the development of the proposed activities (workshops, questionnaires, forums, among others), can show the development of the expected results.

The learning activities that are proposed to the students will be accompanied by feedback from the tutor, in order to achieve the proposed objectives.
