The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT), through the Outreach Coordination of the Western Panama Regional Center and in coordination with the Academic, Research, and Psychology Coordinations, has launched the "Golden Age" project, an initiative that seeks to promote inclusion, comprehensive well-being, and academic development among older adults.
This project aims to address a growing need in our country: to provide older adults with opportunities for learning, empowerment, job security, and family integration. Many of them have lacked access to continuing education or technological skills, which limits their opportunities for active participation in today's society.
"Golden Age" will be developed in a multidisciplinary and collaborative manner, integrating students, teachers, and UMECI graduates from programs such as Education, Psychology, Social Work, Law, Occupational Health and Safety, among others.
As a starting point, a meeting was held with the Western Panama Seniors Association, where the project was presented to an enthusiastic group of women between the ages of 55 and 82, all motivated to learn, update their knowledge, and be part of this transformative experience.
In the coming weeks, training sessions and academic activities will be developed with materials tailored to their interests and needs, thus reaffirming UMECIT's commitment to inclusive education and the well-being of older adults.
With this project, UMECIT continues to lead social impact initiatives, promoting accessible education for all stages of life.
