UMECIT's Santiago campus continues to strengthen its presence in high-level academic spaces, through the participation of its teachers in scientific events that promote the development of knowledge with social impact.
In this context, the research professor Ericka Cruz, from the Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, was invited as a speaker at the 1st Regional Scientific Congress and the 1st Symposium on Health Sciences Research, held in Santiago de Veraguas, under the motto “Science and Innovation at the Service of Human Development”.
During her presentation, she presented the results of her research entitled “Proposal for an occupational safety and health program for day laborers in the province of Veraguas”, addressing a relevant problem related to working conditions and health protection in the agricultural sector.
This study makes a significant contribution by proposing strategies aimed at improving the safety and well-being of workers, contributing to the prevention of occupational risks and the strengthening of safer practices in this productive field.
UMECIT's participation in these scenarios reaffirms its commitment to the generation and dissemination of relevant knowledge, which responds to the needs of the environment and contributes to the social and economic development of the region.
