Lawyer's Day: Human Rights Conference in Times of Social Crisis in Chitré

As part of Lawyers' Day, UMECIT, Chitré campus, organized a refresher course entitled "Human Rights in Times of Social Crisis," led by Mr. Eduardo Leblanc Gonzáles, Ombudsman of the Republic of Panama.

The objective of this academic activity was to strengthen participants' competencies from a human rights-based perspective, especially relevant in contexts of social crisis. During the day, strategies to prevent escalations of violence were discussed, and the importance of human rights as a practical tool for protection and justice was highlighted.

Likewise, special recognition was given to Panamanian jurist Olga Nelly Tapia for her outstanding career and service to justice in Panama.

With this initiative, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to training legal professionals who are aware of their social responsibility and capable of acting as facilitators in the protection and promotion of fundamental rights.
