Legal Office
The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology in Panama has a legal office available to the general population so that people who need it, either by economic or social conditions, can have access and advice on legal issues free of charge.
The service is directed and focused on offering counseling and guidance services for sensitive problems by students of the Faculty of Law and Forensic Sciences of our University, with the guidance and supervision of qualified professors with experience in the topics covered. The above with the objective of fulfilling and contributing academically and legally in the solution of problems of individuals and the community in general.
In order to meet the request in a suitable way, there are parameters that can be consulted with the Legal Office of the UMECIT:
- Criminal law cases are not handled.
- Family cases such as child support proceedings, divorce by mutual consent, guardianship and custody and visiting regulations are handled.
- In the area of civil law, minor intestate successions, purchase and sale of real and personal property, and leases are dealt with.
- Traffic issues such as representation, collisions. For cases of accidents, it will be referred to specialists and forensic experts from UMECIT.
- On administrative matters, advice is offered in those areas in which the justices of the peace normally have jurisdiction.
