Recently, the closing ceremony was held for the psychosocial care and psychotherapeutic support program for homeless people belonging to the Dual Pathology Program of the La Chorrera district, an initiative developed in partnership between the La Chorrera Municipality and UMECIT.
During the execution of the program, the effectiveness of the psychological support provided was evident, reflecting significant progress in the emotional well-being of the patients, as well as in adherence to the therapeutic processes, reaffirming the importance of psychosocial intervention in contexts of high vulnerability.
This project was developed in close collaboration with Dr. Sara Vélez, psychiatrist and head of the Dual Pathology Program – La Chorrera, consolidating an interdisciplinary approach focused on comprehensive mental health care, with a direct impact on the quality of life of the beneficiaries.
UMECIT acknowledges the valuable participation of Psychology students Josten Credidío, Scarlet Altamirano, Larissa Barrio, Allyson Moreno and Linda Rodríguez, as well as the fundamental support of Professor Carmen Bethancourt, whose academic support and feedback process were key to the successful development of the program.
Looking ahead to 2026, UMECIT reaffirms its support and social commitment, continuing its joint work with partner institutions, in accordance with the values, university social responsibility and human vocation that distinguish our institution.
