International training on "Addressing and Preventing Drug Use in the Workplace"

Last September the training was developed “Approaching and Preventing Drug Use in the Workplace”, taught by the Dr. Graciela Barreto, a distinguished specialist from Paraguay. This academic day represented a valuable international training experience for the students and faculty of the Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety (SSO) from UMECIT.

The meeting addressed the intersection between the public health, toxicology and occupational risk management, delving into the psychosocial and ergonomic implications of substance use. Participants strengthened their skills for design and implementation of preventive policies, as well as the creation of Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) oriented towards well-being and productivity.

Dr. Barreto's presentation provided a high-level theoretical and practical framework, with strategies for early identification of risk factors, multidisciplinary intervention and crisis management.

In essence, this training transcended awareness, consolidating itself as a An intensive seminar that strengthened the ability of future OSH professionals to lead healthier, safer, and more sustainable work environments., in accordance with international industrial safety standards.
