As part of strengthening academic training, students of the subject Ocular Inspection II participated in a field practice in the oral trial room of the Accusatory Criminal System, located in the district of La Chorrera, province of Panama Oeste.
The activity, led by Professor Abel Guevara, aimed to complement theoretical knowledge through direct observation of the development of an oral trial, allowing students to comprehensively understand the stages of the criminal process and the role of the different judicial actors.
During the visit, the participants maintained ethical and professional conduct, closely observing the proceedings. Despite some limitations, such as restricted access to information, time constraints, and the inability to interact during the process, the academic objectives were met.
This experience significantly contributed to strengthening observation, critical analysis, and interpretation skills, which are fundamental for professional practice in the legal and forensic fields. Furthermore, the activity reinforced the integration of the core functions of teaching, research, outreach, and academic administration.
The positive impact of this practice on the teaching-learning process is highlighted, and the continuation of this type of experience is recommended as an essential part of the comprehensive training of students.
