Course Description
This course is intended for individuals who have not been designated as Port Facility Security Officers, nor act on their behalf, and who are not required to comply with the provisions of Chapter XI-2 of the SOLAS Convention or the ISPS Code, as they do not have specific security functions assigned.
The training aims to develop participants' greater awareness of maritime security issues, enable them to recognize security threats, and foster an understanding of the importance of maintaining constant vigilance, as well as appropriate methods for achieving this.
Provide security training and familiarization training to personnel in order to acquire the knowledge and understanding to perform their assigned duties and thus contribute to the improvement of maritime security.
Achieve the required level of competence that enables them to contribute to improving the maritime security of a port facility, through a balanced awareness and the ability to recognize security threats and respond appropriately.
- Professionals in all disciplines related to the activities of the maritime cluster.
- University professionals at the bachelor's or higher technical level, in maritime, port, and related fields.
- Students and professionals from all areas who wish to expand their knowledge, skills, and abilities in the maritime port sector.
- Valid identification (ID for Panamanians / passport for foreigners).
- Valid medical certificate (the certificate must be issued by a clinic authorized by the Panama Maritime Authority – AMP).
Module 1: Carry out the functions assigned to them within the Port Security Plan, contributing to the improvement of maritime security at a port facility through heightened awareness and the ability to recognize security threats and respond appropriately.
Hourly intensity: 1.0 theoretical hour.
Module 2: Maritime Protection Policy
Hourly intensity: 0.75 theoretical hour.
Module 3: Protection Responsibilities
Hourly intensity: 1.25 theoretical hours.
Module 4: Port Protection Actions
Hourly intensity: 2.0 theoretical hours.
Module 5: Recognition of Threats to Protection
Hourly intensity: 1.5 theoretical hours.
Module 6: Inspection, Control and Surveillance Activities
Hourly intensity: 1.5 theoretical hours.
Module 7: Protective Equipment
Hourly intensity: 1.0 theoretical hour.
