Course Description
The “Basic Safety Training for Hotel Personnel” course (personnel who do not have responsibilities for the safety and maritime security of the ship). Training not established in the amended STCW´78 Convention, is made up of the following thematic units, namely:
- Vessel familiarization and customer service
- Types of emergencies
- Prevention of marine environmental pollution
- Importance of safety at work
- Effective communication on board the vessel
- Effective human relations on board the vessel
- Social responsibility
- Fatigue control
- Safety and survival
- Fire prevention and fighting
- Immediate actions in case of accidents and other emergencies
These will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to safely carry out various activities on passenger ships.
- Demonstrate the ability to act appropriately in any situation that may arise, while performing various hotel duties onboard passenger ships.
- Demonstrate skills and abilities during emergency situations, thus ensuring people's lives.
- Professionals in all disciplines related to the activities of the maritime cluster
- University professionals at the bachelor's or higher technical level, in maritime, port and related careers
- Students and professionals from all areas who wish to expand their knowledge, skills and abilities in the maritime port sector
- Professionals with field and/or work experience to provide satisfactory service to passengers in areas such as recreation, entertainment, rooms, bars, gyms, cabins, pools, beauty salons, spas, among others; but who need basic knowledge related to the vessel, which will improve their performance in the work they perform, their interaction with passengers, and their well-being on board.
- Valid identification (ID for Panamanians / passport for foreigners)
- Valid medical certificate (the certificate must be issued by a clinic authorized by the Panama Maritime Authority – AMP)
Module 1: Ship familiarization and passenger service
Hourly intensity: 4 theoretical hours
Module 2: Types of emergencies on passenger ships
Hourly intensity: 2 theoretical hours
Module 3: Prevention to prevent pollution of the marine environment on passenger ships
Hourly intensity: 2 theoretical hours
Module 4: Importance of safety at work
Hourly intensity: 2 theoretical hours
Module 5: Effective communication on board the vessel
Hourly intensity: 2 theoretical hours
Module 6: Effective human relations on board the vessel
Hourly intensity: 2 theoretical hours
Module 7: Social responsibility
Hourly intensity: 2 theoretical hours
Module 8: Fatigue control
Hourly intensity: 2 theoretical hours
Module 9: Safety and survival
Hourly intensity: 8 theoretical hours
Module 10: Fire prevention and fighting
Hourly intensity: 8 theoretical hours
Module 11: Immediate actions in case of accidents and other medical emergencies
