Career Description
The PhD in Business Administration with an emphasis on senior management is a program based on the institutional management philosophy of the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT), framed within a pedagogical model whose study plans are consistent with the realities of the Panamanian and Latin American context in the digital age, where the The use of information and communication technologies (ICT), the promotion of research, creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation as mechanisms for the development of the full personality, and the ethical awareness of the professional future, are the foundation of the claims of the doctorate oriented to continuous improvement, competent performance and self-realization of the being from its integrality, training linked to the university-company-society triad; providing the labor market with competent human capital in terms of know-how to meet the needs of the context in its social, political, economic, cultural and environmental dynamics.
This doctorate, recognizing the present challenges for senior managers of companies and institutions, who act in a world in full transformation with shocking changes of a social, political, economic, technological and cultural nature, where it is worth making decisions based on diverse and profound criteria. , multisectoral, keeping in mind the interaction between them, using the appropriate and updated tools, especially through the management of a reliable database, which must be present in the business administration and considering the experience of UMECIT, is based on the concept of the Cyberhumanist Curricular Educational Model, a humanistic, systemic, complex, cybernetic, socio-critical and connectivist curriculum, whose interrelation configures an interconnected theoretical system to satisfy the needs of incorporating in this 21st century, complex systemic approaches, reflective critics, cooperation and by above all, humanistic, that make possible in the transition of the educational formation of the human being the approach, interpretation and understanding of the complex dynamics of society that give it solid foundations for the realization of its actions, all well supported from the points of view : legal, philosophical, epistemological, axiological, sociocultural and psycho-pedagogical, which guide the development of the curriculum in favor of addressing learning situations mediated by technology, and its applications in the socioeconomic context from the symbiosis University - Region and University - Province. train critical citizens, netizens and preservers of the environment, based on ethical awareness responsible for the professional future, and comprehensive action supported by the system of values that refer to desirable and acceptable behaviors by Panamanian and Latin American society.

The large and medium-sized projects that are developed in the country need high-level professionals, who are required in almost all fields of industry and commerce and, for this reason, companies and the public sector require qualified personnel to his execution. Some areas can be mentioned that further promote the hiring of people with this degree. Among them are:
a) Banking Sector:
The new professionals work as Executives, Business Managers, focused on business and commercial management or the dissemination of products linked to the offer of new banking products. Strong foundations in Management, leadership, finance, economics and national and international marketing are necessary.

The permanence in the University will depend on the motivation, capacity and vision of the student to obtain the chosen degree. The student must maintain a minimum Academic Index of 2.0 and/or a minimum grade of 85 (B).
Given the profile of the curricular educational model "CYBERHUMANIST" of the university, the student must:
- Study in teams and individually.
- Develop research skills based on discovery learning.
- Deepen in the disciplinary knowledge that is of interest to them.
- Respect and comply with the regulations established by the statutes that regulate the relationship between the University and the students.
- Be up to date with their monthly payments.
- Attend at least 80% of the meetings under the face-to-face modality.
- For studies under the virtual modality, attendance is regulated by constant interaction in all activities planned on the platform, including synchronous and asynchronous meetings, as well as the development of the student's autonomous work.
- In case of prolonged absence, the student must present a justified argumentation.
- All students in doctoral programs must have basic knowledge of computer science.
- Check knowledge of a language other than yours that allows you to read bibliography of the specialty. Said language must be one of those officially recognized by UNESCO; (Certification or knowledge test) (preferably English language.

To obtain the Doctorate in Business Administration with Emphasis in Senior Management, the following is required:
- Take and pass the academic content of the respective semesters.
- Take and pass all the subjects of the study plan with a minimum grade of 85 points equivalent to a B.
- Maintain a cumulative academic index of not less than two (2.00) on a scale of three (3.00).
- Delivery, support and approval of the doctoral thesis.
- Publication of two scientific articles in indexed scientific journals.
- Presentation of the research work in at least one international event based in Panama or in another country.
- Take a proficiency test in English or another international language
- Be in good standing with the institution (financial, academic, and library).
