Career Description

The Specialization in Sports Psychology is designed to train professionals capable of scientific, ethical, and effective interventions in the field of sports, utilizing an interdisciplinary approach that articulates psychological, pedagogical, and physiological knowledge. The program responds to the growing demand for specialists who understand human behavior in sports contexts, with the goal of optimizing performance, strengthening athletes' mental health, and contributing to their overall development.

This postgraduate program provides tools for analyzing, evaluating, and intervening in individual and group factors that influence athletic performance, such as motivation, emotional management, decision-making, leadership, team cohesion, and self-regulation. Through solid theoretical and applied training, students acquire skills to design psychological support strategies for both educational and high-performance sports, as well as for rehabilitation, retirement, and doping prevention processes.

It is aimed at professionals in the field of psychology or related fields interested in deepening their understanding of human behavior in sports and developing skills to intervene ethically, scientifically, and professionally in psychological support processes in sports. Graduates will be prepared to join coaching staffs, federations, sports clubs, high-performance centers, and private consultancies, contributing to the well-being, performance, and sustainability of sports careers.

The field of work for the Specialization in Sports Psychology is highly strategic and constantly expanding, in response to the growing awareness of the importance of psychological support for athletes' performance and well-being. Graduates of this program are qualified to join technical teams at federations, leagues, sports clubs, training schools, universities, and high-performance centers, contributing from a scientific perspective to the emotional, motivational, and behavioral strengthening of athletes in different disciplines and competition levels.

Their training allows them to intervene in key processes such as psychological preparation for competition, support in pressure situations and decision-making, recovery from injuries, retirement from sports, doping prevention, and the development of mental skills. They can also participate in mental health promotion programs in sports contexts, work as advisors to coaches and technical staff, and lead individual and group assessment and intervention processes.

In addition, they are qualified to offer independent consulting services or join applied research teams in sports psychology, contributing to the design of evidence-based strategies for the comprehensive development of athletes. Their role is essential in building healthy, inclusive, and sustainable sports environments, where performance is enhanced through psychological balance, teamwork, and respect for the human dimension of sport.
