Career Description

The Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Management Administration will train in the application of knowledge, methodologies, techniques and procedures related to environmental monitoring, control, and management. The graduate will develop and promote actions aimed at conserving the environment and biodiversity, with the purpose of proposing and applying plans and programs to prevent, control, mitigate and correct environmental problems within the spheres of public and private companies and non-governmental organizations.

The competencies developed by the graduates of the Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Management Administration involve knowledge in the areas of biology, physics, botany, chemistry, environmental management, waste treatment, pollution, environmental legislation, and environmental risk mitigation processes. Additionally, the curriculum includes the integral development of cartographic technology and geographic information systems.

Graduates of this career will have job opportunities in different areas and national and international productive sectors such as agriculture, industry, commerce, tourism, government, and organizations dedicated to the conservation and preservation of the environment.

The Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Management complements the development of skills and abilities in the areas of mathematics, administrative processes, drawing, technology, general knowledge and linguistic development.

In addition, the professional graduate of the Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Management Administration will have the necessary skills to work in the areas of environmental promotion, environmental risk consultants, and managers of proposals that promote the application of environmental regulations and policies in force in the different companies and institutions where they provide their services.

All applicants must submit the following documentation duly scanned from the original and sent to the promoter to be uploaded to the respective platform:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • High school credits or grades or their equivalent
  • Identity document, ID card or passport in the case of foreigners and residing in Panama during their studies. (If the student is a minor, the youth ID card and the identity document of his guardian.)
  • A passport size photo.
  • Fill out the admission form in electronic format with the promoter.
  • If you are a foreigner, documents such as your high school diploma or its equivalent, high school credits or grades or its equivalent must be apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of your respective country. In the event that the country does not have a consulate, it must carry out the procedure with the official authorities that validate it and have the endorsement of MEDUCA.

Note: Students enrolled in virtual mode, whose nationality is different from Panamanian, must present a copy of their personal identification document from the country of origin (cédula).

 

Given The profile of the “Neo Cyberhumanist” curricular educational model of the University. The student must:

  • Permanence at the University will depend, solely and exclusively on the student, on their motivation, ability and vision to obtain the chosen academic degree.
  • To pass each subject, the participant must obtain a minimum grade of 7.1 on a scale of 1 to 100, which is equivalent to number C.
  • Respect and comply with the regulations established by the statutes that regulate the relationships between the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology and the students of the Institution, taking into account principles and values of the human being.
  • Keep payments up to date.
  • Attend at least 80% of the scheduled meetings in face-to-face and semi face-to-face mode. In case of prolonged absence, the student must present the justification for the absence. For studies under the virtual modality, attendance is regulated through constant interaction in all activities planned on the platform, including synchronous and asynchronous meetings, as well as the development of the student's autonomous work.

  • The student is responsible for the construction of their knowledge, willingness to work and collaborative learning, study in a team on their own, investigate, be self-taught and contribute to self-knowledge and self-motivation.
  • For those students who lose academic continuity (that is, they defer or withdraw) and wish to continue their studies or did not fulfill their degree requirement, they must request reinstatement to the current program approved by CDTA and must comply with the validation and homologation regulations.
  • The term of permanence at the University will be in accordance with the number of quarters that make up the academic program.
  • The student in cases of force majeure or fortuitous event must submit to the contingency plans or document that takes its place.

To obtain the title of Technician is required:

  • Take and pass all the subjects of the study plan with a minimum grade of 71 points equivalent to a C.
  • Maintain a cumulative academic index of not less than one (1.0) on a scale of one to three (1 to 3).
  • Take and pass the seminar or diploma.
  • Be at peace and safe with the Institution (financial, academic and library).

To obtain the Bachelor's degree, the following is required:

  • Take and pass all the subjects of the study plan with a minimum grade of 71 points equivalent to a C.
  • Maintain a cumulative academic index of not less than one (1.0) on a scale of one to three (1 to 3).
  • Take and pass the business practice corresponding to 160 hours stipulated in the study plan; support and approve the practice report.
  • Take and pass one of the following requirements of the degree work (degree option):
  • A knowledge test.
  • Prepare, support and approve a project (degree work) in their area of knowledge.
  • Postgraduate subjects.
  • Take a certification exam of a second language recognized by UNESCO, in accordance with internal regulations.
  • Be at peace and safe with the Institution (financial, academic and library)

  • Analyzes the factors that affect environmental management.
  • Identifies national and international legislation for the protection and conservation of the environment.
  • Identify the biological, chemical and physical processes applicable to living beings.
  • Analyzes the main threats to natural resources that impact humanity.
  • Identify the stages and phases in environmental impact studies with their projects and actions.
  • Analyzes the environmental factors that are applied in Environmental Impact studies as part of the environmental analysis of a project.
  • Know the Development Goals indicators yessustainable that are promoted for the conservation of natural resources and life.
  • Know the environmentally friendly alternative energy sources for their promotion.

  • Interprets the legal aspects that influence the country's environmental protection regulations.
  • Establishes environmental recovery and mitigation programs as prevention in environmental management models.
  • Performs project analysis and environmental impact assessment.
  • Prepare analyzes on the polluting effects, what waste has and its impact on health.
  • Develops sustainable agriculture programs as an alternative means of food production in harmony with environmental conservation.
  • Implements training programs for the prevention of environmental risks and conservation of natural resources.

  • Leadership capacity in decision-making in environmental actions.
  • Develop organizational skills in the planning, development and collaboration of environmental impact studies.
