Career Description
Its study plan is designed to allow students to acquire the skills, aptitudes, and attitudes to detect the presence of chronic-degenerative diseases. Similarly, it makes it possible to detect whether these diseases are caused by different pathogenic or epidemiological agents that affect community health.
At the technical level, the graduate will be able to collaborate with the health team in health diagnoses with emphasis on the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of the population, implementing appropriate intervention strategies that promote health promotion efficiently.
At the Bachelor's level, the graduate will plan and carry out health diagnoses with emphasis on the knowledge, attitudes and practices of the population, which will be aimed at intervening adequately and efficiently in certain areas, on the one hand, avoiding causing health alterations of individuals or communities, and on the other hand promoting prevention and health promotion.

In areas of difficult access, it will be empowered to carry out ethnographic research on knowledge of attitudes and practices of the population with respect to health issues. Additionally, prepare proposals for educational interventions consistent with the sociocultural characteristics of the population and contribute to the development of didactic support material for educational actions. Lastly, develop educational and informative capsules for the media, promote community organization, work with organized groups and community and business leaders, and consequently promote strategic alliances for the improvement of the population and the environment in general terms.
The entrance requirements for the Bachelor of Health Education with an emphasis on health promotion are the following:
- Original and copy (collation) of high school diploma and credits approved by MEDUCA or its equivalent (in case of being a foreigner, the documents must be apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the respective country and have the endorsement of the Ministry of Education of Panama).
- Two photocopies of the identity card. In case the applicant is a minor or a foreigner, two copies of the birth certificate or two copies of the passport, respectively, must be submitted.
- Two passport-size photographs.
- Medical certificate of good health.
- Hold an interview with the selection team.
- Fill out the application form to join the program.
- The permanence in the Bachelor's Degree in Health Education with emphasis in Health Promotion will depend solely and exclusively on the student's motivation, capacity and vision to obtain the chosen academic degree.
- Taking into account that your general average or cumulative and individual index by subject in the career cannot be less than 71.
- Given the characteristics of the institution, the student will be able to:

– Enroll and take the first four-month period of a specialization related to their career.
– Submit and pass a general knowledge test.
- You will learn basic principles applicable to health, behavioral, and educational diagnoses.
- You will know and understand the Panamanian reality, national policies, conceptions and trends in societies, cultures, and health care models.
- It will analyze the quality of health education services through qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
- It will evaluate public health policies and the relevance of new studies for health education.
- It will identify predisposing factors, facilitators, and reinforcers of individual and collective health behaviors.
- Will plan, execute and coordinate Health Education actions aimed at individuals, families and communities based on institutional public health programs.
- It will manage community programs with a preventive nature. As well as to preserve and increase health.
- It will organize health services, developing human resources, and implementing health conservation policies.
- Will prepare research reports as a diagnostic basis for the development of all institutional and community health education action.
- They will design measurement instruments to obtain information through field work and the use of various research methodologies from the Health, Social, and Educational Sciences.
- Will demonstrate responsibility in the exercise of your profession.
- Demonstrate tolerance and respect for other people's opinions and behaviors.
- Will demonstrate responsibility in the exercise of your profession.
- It will apply ethical, aesthetic, moral, civic, religious, and cultural values in different situations, to contribute to the formation of a national conscience.
