Description

Pregnancy is one of the most important stages in the life of a large percentage of women, this period is accompanied by major morpho-functional changes that are maintained even after the birth of the baby.
The relationship between physical activity and pregnancy has evolved, adapting over time thanks to different studies that have widely demonstrated the benefits of directed physical activity during pregnancy and postpartum, all of which has made it possible to base and establish guidelines for action for the prescription of physical exercise in pregnant women, ensuring minimum risks and maximum benefits.
It is important that exercise and health professionals know the fundamentals and current concepts on the practice of physical activity during pregnancy and postpartum, thus implementing programs that include the various components of physical fitness, optimizing exercise in search of a better physical and health condition in the pregnant woman with a minimum risk for her and the baby.
