Computer Forensics is an area that requires training and constant updating of the different parties in the technical and criminalistics process, which is why this course arises from the need that arises in Panama to teach the theoretical and practical of the latest computer forensic techniques, the preparation and presentation of expert reports on the analysis carried out on digital evidence legally obtained within an investigative process and presented in the different hearings.

Whoever performs the forensic analysis of digital evidence within an investigative process must have the expertise and clarity about current forensic tools and international standards in Computer Forensics.

Learn to recognize the basic characteristics of the expert, tools, environments and general rules that are required for the validation of a process of handling and analysis of digital evidence, following international standards in computer forensics, which guarantee due process in any legal dispute (judicial , civil or administrative).

  • Identifies and appropriates the main concepts and standardized procedures in computer forensics to guarantee due process.  
  • Recognizes tools and procedures for the acquisition of digital evidence, taking into account the services that can be offered by a computer expert. 
  • Differentiate the difficulties and techniques of information acquisition in mobile terminals.
  • They recognize the suitability that a computer expert must have and the documentary and procedural management that it requires.

Legal medicine, National Police, General Directorate of Revenue, Public Ministry, individual experts, National Border Service (SENAFRONT), Aeronaval Service (SENAN), Directorate of Judicial Investigation (DIJ), Lawyers.

To participate in the course, it is recommended that the participant have basic knowledge of Panamanian criminal law, in relation to the accusatory criminal system and basic knowledge of office automation.

Taking into account that the course will be held virtually, the following aspects are important:

  • Computer knowledge at the user level in video conferencing tools such as Google Meet, Microsoft Teams.
  • Management of office package tools such as Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Have your own email account and consult it regularly.
  • Read the self-directed learning guides for participation in the different activities.

The Forensic Computer Course and expert reports, is designed 100% online, which has been designed and built so that the participants (students, teachers, supervisors), can
interact permanently and easily, which allows the appropriation and construction of knowledge.

The course has an intensity of 40 hours that will be carried out during the period of one (01) month, in which self-learning activities, collaborative work and synchronous sessions will be carried out twice a week, with a duration of 2 hours each. meeting. The schedule of the program is set out below:

Month: 1
Self learning: 16 hours
Synchronous 2 weekly meetings of 2 hours: 16 hours
Core Work: 8 hours

This course will be developed by two teachers, Professionals, technicians in the areas of criminal investigation, digital evidence treatment, computer forensics and criminalistics, with certified experience in the field and training in technological tools for teaching.

The evaluation of the course is framed within a continuous evaluation of learning, where the participants, through the development of the proposed activities (workshops, questionnaires, forums, among others), can show the development of the expected results.

The learning activities that are proposed to the students will be accompanied by feedback from the tutor, in order to achieve the proposed objectives.
