Course Description
This course is designed to provide essential training to personnel who may be designated as Port Facility Security Officers, in compliance with international maritime security regulations and standards. Throughout the program, participants will develop the skills necessary to design, maintain, and oversee the implementation of the Port Facility Security Plan; conduct initial inspections considering the key elements of the security assessment; carry out periodic inspections to ensure ongoing compliance with security measures; promote security awareness and vigilance among port personnel; and ensure the proper operation, testing, calibration, and maintenance of existing security equipment, if applicable.
- To address international terrorist activity, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has adopted the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code. This code establishes, in Article 17.1, that a Port Facility Security Officer shall be designated at every port facility.
- To achieve the required level of competence that enables them to fulfill the functions assigned to them as Port Facility Security Officers and to guarantee safe maritime trade by conducting periodic assessments of the port facility and ensuring the development and maintenance of the port facility security plan.

- Valid Identification (ID for Panamanians / Passport for foreigners).
- Current Medical Certificate (The certificate must be issued by a clinic authorized by the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP).
