Career Description
The professional training of the teacher is perhaps the fundamental component of the development and optimization of education. Therefore, it requires changes in the specific (in the day-to-day of the class, by case) and in the global (permanent support, permanence in the educational system, continuity of projects, methodological and conceptual innovation, etc.)
That is why, just as during the Virtual Learning Environments postgraduate course, work is promoted based on good practices in distance education with intensive use of information and communication technologies, proactive tutorials, didactic design of materials, virtual campus With all the appropriate benefits and the use of didactic resources, the Master's degree amplifies and enhances this style by adding two essential dimensions for an education professional who wants to advance to a higher rung.
In this sense, the master's degree includes joint processes of research, experimentation, knowledge production while being dynamically organized in response to the demands derived from the heterogeneity of the students, to the diversity of new tools that appear almost incessantly, to new educational strategies and new understandings of the environments associated with virtuality: new realities, networks as ecosystems, advances in semantic models of understanding, new narrative structures, etc.
Graduates from the Master's in Virtual Learning Environments will be able to perform efficiently at the national or international level in areas that require the following capabilities:
- Produce didactic material for the subjects of their specialty, in collaboration with graphic designers and programmers.
- Act as teacher-tutors in the subjects of their specialty.
- Plan and schedule courses in the virtual teaching modality.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams for the design, planning and management of careers in the virtual teaching modality.
All applicants must submit the following documentation duly scanned from the original and sent to the promoter to be uploaded to the respective platform:
- Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree credits or grades or their equivalent.
If you are a foreigner, the aforementioned documents must be apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of your respective country. In the event that the country does not have a consulate, it must be processed before the official authorities that validate it.
- Identity document (passport in case of foreigners residing in Panama).
- A current passport-size photo.
- Fill out the admission form in electronic format with the promoter.
Note: Students enrolled in virtual modality whose nationality is different from Panamanian, must present a copy of their personal identity document from the country of origin.
In case of being a foreign student these documents must be provided with an apostille stamp or legalization through diplomatic channels and its translation in Spanish.
The permanence in the University will depend on the student's motivation, capacity and vision to obtain the chosen degree.
Given the profile of the curricular educational model "CYBERHUMANIST" of the university, the student must:
- Study in teams and individually.
- Develop research skills based on discovery learning.
- Deepen in the disciplinary knowledge that is of interest to them.
- Respect and comply with the regulations established by the statutes that regulate the relationship between the University and the students.
- Be up to date with their monthly payments.
- Attend at least 80% of the meetings in the semi face-to-face modality.

In order to obtain the title of Specialist, the following is required:
- Maintain a cumulative academic index of not less than two (2.00) on a scale of three (3.00).
- Take a certification exam of a second language recognized by UNESCO, a minimum of 40 hours. In case of not having the above, the university offers courses in English or another language, for which the respective course will be paid.
- Complete and pass all the subjects of the curriculum with a minimum grade of 81 points equivalent to a B.
- Elaborate, support and approve the degree work.
In the Specialization in Virtual Learning Environments, the participants must carry out the preparation of a final Intervention Project within the framework of the subject Research I: Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation of Projects, reflecting on the elements that come into play in a process planning, evaluation and monitoring of projects and preparing a viable development project in a virtual learning environment, corresponding to their areas of work, with special emphasis on the subject taught or on the design of a postgraduate course.
The work system of the course will be organized around a personalized monitoring of each one of the participants, to comply with what is requested in the four units in which the program is organized (study of materials and, fundamentally, the steps to prepare the final work).
Each of the units provides for an individual learning practice that must be resolved in writing.
- Be in good standing with the institution (financial, academic, and library).
In order to obtain the Master's Degree it is required:

Within the framework of the Master's degree, participants must complete an Intervention Project in order to put into practice the learning achieved throughout the Specialization in Virtual Learning Environments and the courses that will be offered in this second degree of deepening in the postgraduate aimed at the appropriation and application of digital technologies. The student will develop an intervention project or professional practice through the diagnosis of the local context. To do this, it will start from the project proposal developed in the course Research I: Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation of Specialization Projects, in order to virtualize a postgraduate or undergraduate subject or course.
You will also be able to evaluate additional literature, install equipment, platforms and tools, carry out tests, surveys and other research activities that facilitate the diagnosis of specific situations in Virtual Learning Environments. The objective is to develop the intervention project proposal. The student will have a tutor who will support and guide him during the development of his project. During the four-month period, the student will carry out the designs, implementations, experiments, measurements and fine-tuning of the products defined in the formulation of the intervention project.
In this final Intervention Project, the students pose an academic problem that can be solved through virtualization. This problem is justified, supported, and determined by the application context, the pedagogical framework that supports the learning dynamics, the prospective, general and specific objectives, the expected results, the way in which the course will be administered, the learning dynamics. proposal, the type of tutoring planned and the didactic materials that will be used. Likewise, they must detail the way in which the project will be evaluated with the corresponding indicators.
All this with the list of bibliography. The development of this project focuses on know-how, on learning by doing, on learning by learning, since they must apply what they have worked on in the different subjects of the Specialization and in the Master's Degree in Virtual Learning Environments. Namely:
- Retake, review and update the Project presented at the end of the Specialization Cycle (Research Subject I: Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation of Projects).
- Define the learning theories that support the proposal and that will be applied when proposing the activities (Subjects Learning in Virtual Environments, Digital Ecosystems in learning environments).
- Apply what has been worked on in Production of Didactic Material for Virtual Environments I, Production of Didactic Material for Virtual Environments II and Communication in virtual Learning environments, when writing a Didactic Guide and a module, enriching oneself through editing, always thinking that the images are incorporated with a sense within the development of the theme to work on. Here the teaching role as tutor, guide, counselor, curator is put into play, since it is written for the student, identifying himself as the center of the process.
- Design a classroom within a platform, enabling all the tools that allow the project to be implemented in an enriching way, thought of both the teaching and the learning process (Subjects Tutoring in Virtual Environments and Teaching Management of Platforms for Virtual Education ).
- Link the virtual classroom with external tools that are relevant to the theme and the problem to be solved (Subjects Education in the third decade of the Web, Workshop on Production of Digital Narratives based on 2.0 resources).
- Select and design multimedia resources that facilitate the approach to content (Subjects Workshop on Production of Digital Narratives based on 2.0 resources, Production of Didactic Material for Virtual Environments II, Communication in virtual learning environments, Education in the Third Decade of the Web).
- Integrate resources and tools that, without being pedagogical, enhance and expand the possibilities of a Virtual Learning Environment, turning it into a bridge that allows the generation of a Personal Learning Environment, PLE, interacting within larger networks (Hybrid Realities, new challenges to navigate complexity, Digital Ecosystems in learning environments, Education in the Third Decade of the Web).
The final results will be presented by the student to a jury of specialists during the grade exam. The grade exam will consist of supporting the intervention project and the oral evaluation by questioning the student about aspects of his project. For this, the video conference system will be used.
