Course Description
This Security Awareness Training Course for all Seafarers forms part of the minimum requirements for basic maritime security training and instruction, established by Regulation VI/6, paragraph 2; Section A-VI/6, paragraph 4; and Table A-VI/6-1 of the STCW Convention 1978 as amended and its Training Code.
With a duration of 6 hours of theory, this course aims to provide all seafarers with fundamental knowledge in the field of security, enabling them to contribute to strengthening maritime security through increased awareness, recognition of potential threats, and an understanding of the need to maintain constant vigilance, as well as the appropriate methods to achieve this.
To provide seafarers employed or contracted in support roles on board ships with the necessary training to develop awareness and understanding of maritime security aspects, enabling them to recognize threats and act in accordance with established measures. This training addresses the need to strengthen maritime security against piracy and other threats, fostering a culture of protection throughout the crew, in accordance with the requirements of the ISPS Code and under the accreditation of the maritime administration.
Obey the security measures adopted by the ship's security plan and the orders of the ship's security officer.
- Professionals in all disciplines related to the activities of the maritime cluster.
- University professionals at the bachelor's or higher technical level, in maritime, port, and related fields.
- Students and professionals from all areas who wish to expand their knowledge, skills, and abilities in the maritime and port sector.
- valid identification (ID card for Panamanians / passport for foreigners).
- Valid medical certificate (must be issued by a clinic authorized by the Panama Maritime Authority – AMP).
- Module 1: Introduction - 0.5 hours of theory
- Module 2: Maritime Security Policy – 1.0 hour theory
- Module 3: Protection Responsibilities – 1.0 hour theory
- Module 4: Threat Identification, Recognition and Response – 1.0 hour theory
- Module 5: Ship Protection Actions – 0.75 theoretical hours
- Module 6: Emergency preparedness, drills and exercises – 0.75 practical hours
