Career Description
Public health is an interdisciplinary field that focuses on disease prevention and health promotion at the population level. Public health professionals work to improve the health and well-being of communities through a variety of activities, including research, health surveillance, health promotion, and the implementation and administration of public health programs.
- Public sector: Ministries of health, international health organizations (PAHO/WHO), public health institutions at the national, regional, and local levels, decentralized health entities, etc.
- Private sector: Health insurance companies, private clinics and hospitals, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) dedicated to health, public health consulting firms, etc.
- Academy: Teaching and research in universities, research centers and other educational institutions.
Civil society organizations: Participation in organizations that work to promote the health and well-being of the population.
All applicants must submit the following documentation duly scanned from the original and sent to the promoter to be uploaded to the respective platform:
- Bachelor's degree diploma or its equivalent
- Bachelor's degree credits or grades or their equivalent
- Identity document, ID card or passport in the case of foreigners and residing in Panama during their studies. (If the student is a minor, the youth ID card and the identity document of his guardian.)
- A passport size photo.
- Fill out the admission form in electronic format with the promoter.

- Note: Students enrolled in virtual modality whose nationality is different from Panamanian, must present a copy of their personal identity document from the country of origin.
If you are a foreigner, the aforementioned documents must be apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of your respective country. In the event that the country does not have a consulate, it must be processed before the official authorities that validate it.
The permanence in the University will depend on the student's motivation, capacity and vision to obtain the chosen degree.
Given the profile of the University's “NEO CYBERHUMANIST” curricular educational model, the student must:
- Maintain a minimum academic index of 2.0 and/or a minimum grade of 81 (B).
- Study in teams and individually.
- Develop research skills based on discovery learning.
- Deepen in the disciplinary knowledge that is of interest to them.
- Respect and comply with the regulations established by the statutes that regulate the relationship between the University and the students.
- Be up to date with their monthly payments.
- Attend at least 80% of the meetings under the face-to-face modality.
- For studies under the virtual modality, attendance is regulated by constant interaction in all activities planned on the platform, including synchronous and asynchronous meetings, as well as the development of the student's autonomous work.
- In case of prolonged absence, a justified justification must be presented.
- Submit a certification exam for a second language recognized by UNESCO, in accordance with internal regulations.
In order to obtain the title of Specialist, the following is required:
- Complete and pass all the subjects of the curriculum with a minimum grade of 81 points equivalent to a B.
- Maintain a cumulative academic index of not less than two (2.00) on a scale of three (3.00).
- Take a certification exam of a second language recognized by UNESCO, in accordance with internal regulations.
- Be at peace and safe with the institution (financial, academic and library).
To obtain the Master's Degree, the following are required:
- Complete and pass all the academic content of the program enrolled.
- Complete and pass all the subjects of the curriculum with a minimum grade of 81 points equivalent to a B.
- Maintain a cumulative academic index of not less than two (2.00) on a scale of three (3.00).
- Take a certification exam of a second language recognized by UNESCO, in accordance with internal regulations.
- Be at peace and safe with the institution (financial, academic and library).
- Complete and support the degree option.
In the case of foreign students, they must comply with the local regulations of the country of origin where they want to validate their degree.

- Identify the principles, characteristics and contributions of public health to community development and the reduction of inequalities from epistemological, conceptual and procedural reflection.
- Recognize and analyze the social determinants of health, their implications for people's life cycles, and their impact on the health-disease process.
- Identify the different approaches and dimensions that health and disease phenomena have taken on in the international, regional, and local context, in order to understand their impact on health systems, social protection, and public administration.
For the Master's Degree:
- Understand the international, national, regional, and local context of public health and how its organization transcends the evolution and development of systems that require assertive responses from health professionals in their professional actions.
- Recognize transdisciplinarity as a common context in public health, allowing problems to be addressed with intervention approaches that articulate different disciplines.
- Lead actions that strengthen public health among the population at the local, regional, and national levels.

For Specialization:
- Analyze intervention strategies and health programs to ensure health protection and universal access within the framework of essential health functions.
- Apply knowledge and practices of epidemiology, demography, and biostatistics to strengthen the planning, implementation, and evaluation processes of public health activities.
- Use tools to analyze the overall health situation of the population and implement effective and efficient actions associated with the new essential public health functions for the Americas.
For the Master's Degree:
- Evaluate and propose alternative solutions, intervention strategies, plans, or programs to address structural problems in health systems within the context of social protection, addressing the objectives of the essential functions of public health in the Americas.
- Make proposals based on cultural diversity in knowledge and interpretation of reality through actions and decisions that involve different social actors.
- Design and implement systems that contribute to public health surveillance in accordance with the guidelines and protocols established by national and international entities.

- Develop leadership skills that allow you to manage the uncertainty generated by crises and keep work teams motivated.
- Develop change management skills that enable a culture of innovation in healthcare organizations.
- Develop assertive communication skills that will enable you to create synergies with different disciplines related to public health management and administration.
For the Master's Degree:
- Propose public health intervention initiatives that require the application of teamwork and collective leadership skills.
- Mobilize actions in communities, work teams, and public and private organizations that improve people's living conditions, in balance with the environment and that consider cultural conditions, human dignity, and respect for human rights.
- Propose and lead intervention initiatives that improve the environment, based on the recognition of environmental determinants of health, viewed from a critical perspective that fosters a healthy and well-being environment.

- Promote individual dignity and autonomy, respect for cultural and gender diversity, and differences of thought in order to focus their actions as public health professionals on reducing extreme poverty, hunger, preventable morbidity and mortality, and the persistent fragility of health systems, and working toward environmental sustainability and the achievement of adequate surveillance systems.
- Apply the criteria of ethics and bioethics in the reflections, analyses, and constructions in which you participate and that are associated with public health and policies in general.
- Adopt the principles of health diplomacy to promote health and strengthen and maintain relationships with various stakeholders to improve the population's living conditions.
For the Master's Degree:
