Career Description

The Bachelor's Degree in Systems and Programming, with intermediate exit of the Systems Technician, attached to the Faculty of Systems and Programming, will allow the systems and programming professional to be able to analyze, develop and apply procedures for the benefit of the new information and communication technologies. Additionally, he/she will be able to complement the processes of maintenance and development of hardware and network technologies that facilitate communication and the operation of information systems within companies or institutions.

The competencies developed for the Bachelor's Degree in Systems and Programming include the areas of equipment maintenance, networks, data communication, systems support, program development, data analysis, computer center administration and information systems management.
The professional who graduates from the Bachelor's Degree will have a broad panorama of labor development that involves the different poles of economic development: both national and international.
The Bachelor's Degree in Systems and Programming is complemented in areas such as: mathematical bases, development of logic, general knowledge and administrative and accounting areas that strengthen the integral formation of the professional of this career.

  • Original and copy (collation) of high school diploma and credits approved by MEDUCA or its equivalent (in case of being a foreigner, the documents must be apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the respective country and have the endorsement of the Ministry of Education of Panama).
  • Two photocopies of the identity card, in case of being a minor, birth certificate (in case of being a foreigner, passport).
  • Two passport size photos. Deliver certificates of good physical health.
  • Hold an interview with the selection team.

The permanence in the Bachelor's Degree in Systems and Programming at the university will depend solely and exclusively on the student's motivation, ability and vision to obtain the chosen academic degree.
The student must keep in mind that his or her general average or cumulative index in his or her career cannot be less than 71.
The term of permanence in the University will be:
  • Twelve quarters minimum in Bachelor's Degree, for those who do not validate subjects.
  • To obtain the degree of technician it is required to have completed seven quarters, a total of 105 credits and a specialization seminar as a graduation requirement.

Attendance is mandatory for students under face-to-face and semi face-to-face learning modality for at least 80% of the classes.
In the case of virtual studies, attendance is regulated by constant interaction in all activities planned on the platform, including synchronous and asynchronous meetings, as well as the development of the student's autonomous work.
To obtain the bachelor's degree in programming systems is required:
  • Complete and pass the academic contents of all subjects with a minimum grade of C.
  • Maintain a cumulative academic index of one (1.0) or higher on a scale of one to three.
  • Completion of a diploma course or specialization seminar.

  • Intervene in teams with an interdisciplinary approach in consulting projects, computer audits, IT process optimization, etc., that require the professional integration of systems specialists with other areas of knowledge.

  • Investigate phenomena developed with the conceptual processes of system design. Will value information search strategies to effectively communicate the results of the research.
  • Promote and develop Informatics applications in new application areas.
  • Evaluate and put into operation the software already developed.
  • Plan, direct and control the survey, design and execution of projects, as well as the implementation of information systems in organizations and entities of economic rationality.
