Career Description

The Bachelor's Degree in Maritime and Port Administration trains professionals in all the areas necessary to perform effectively in companies in the maritime and port sector. Additionally, it trains competitive graduates capable of working in areas with increasingly rapid technological advances, and with the ability to support the innovation of management in areas of port and logistics operations.

Students of the Bachelor's Degree in Maritime and Port Administration choose to study this career because of the diversity of subjects offered by the program and the knowledge acquired during their study.
With this academic training, the graduate can access the world of maritime and port trade, its laws, regulations and the fundamental management of local, national and international trade.

The Program is aimed at high school graduates from all disciplines, who converge in the multidisciplinary management of a maritime and port administration project, whether from public or private organizations. By virtue of this, with the entry requirements for the Technician in Maritime and Port Administration and the Bachelor's Degree in Maritime and Port Administration the following:
The requirements for admission to the career are the following:
  • Original and copy (collation) of the bachelor's diploma and credits approved by MEDUCA or its equivalent (in case of being a foreigner the documents must be notarized and apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of their respective country and have the endorsement of the Ministry of Education of Panama).
  • Photocopies of the identity card, in case of being a minor, birth certificate (if a foreigner is a passport).
  • Passport-size photographs

    Certificate of good health.

  • Hold an interview with the selection team.
  • Fill out the application form for admission to the program (electronic).
Permanence at the University will depend solely and exclusively on the student, his motivation and ability to obtain the academic degree. To do this, you must take into account that the general average or cumulative index of the career cannot be less than 71, based on the maximum score of 100.

Within the evaluation criteria it is established that to pass a subject the student must obtain a score above 71 points (scale from 0 to 100); a grade not lower than C; and maintain an individual and cumulative academic index of not less than 1.00 (0 to 3.00 scale).

The student who obtains a quarterly cumulative index of less than 1.00 will be excluded from the course.

Attendance is mandatory. The student must comply with the 80% of attendance in each subject.

Given the characteristics of the institution, the student must be able to:
  • Study individually and in a team. Investigate in areas of greater importance.
  • The minimum term of stay at the University is twelve quarters for those who do not validate subjects.
  • The student must comply with the following terms:
    • Respect the Disciplinary Regulations of the University.
    • Be in good standing with the payments.
    • Obtain a minimum score of 71 percentage points in each subject and an academic index of no less than 1.00.
    • Attend the 80% of face-to-face meetings (in case of a prolonged absence present a justified excuse).
    • Punctually attend sessions and academic events.
    • Have an ethical conduct and respect the representations of the institution.
    To obtain the title of Technician in Maritime and Port Administration, the following is required:
    • Approve all subjects in the curriculum with a minimum grade of C or 71 points Maintain a cumulative grade point average of no less than one (1.0) on a scale of one to three.
    • Maintain an average equal to or higher than 71 and have no subjects lower than 71.
    • Participate in the specialization or diploma seminar.
    • Be in good standing with the institution.
    To obtain the degree of Bachelor of Maritime and Port Administration, the following is required:
    • Approve all the subjects and requirements contemplated in the study plan
    • Maintain a cumulative academic index of not less than one (1.0) on a scale of one to three.
    • Maintain an average higher than 71 and have no subjects lower than 71.
    • Satisfactorily complete the supervised professional internship.
    • Elaborate and support the professional practice report.
    Complete and approve one of the following requirements:
    • Prepare, support and approve the project or degree work in their area of knowledge.
    • Enroll and take subjects of a specialization to end the career.
    • Take and pass the general knowledge test.
    • Be in good standing with the institution.

    • You will understand the properties of the various types of springs with their respective characteristics.
    • You will master the theoretical arguments that explain multimodal transport operations.
    • You will understand the factors of maritime administration that affect maritime transport.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of handling mooring elements involved in maritime operations.
    • You will recognize the elements required for the design of contingency plans from the administration of a maritime and port business.
    • You will know the legislation and international conventions applied to maritime administration and maritime transport.

    • Demonstrate skill in the choice and management of port equipment.
    • You will show mastery in the administrative technical aspects inherent to the management of maritime transport.
