Career Description
The Bachelor's Degree in Bachelor's Degree in General Psychology presented by the School of Health Sciences offers the space of attention in the Psychology Clinic to students and the community in general. Additionally, it has a Gesell Camera that allows observation, interview, analysis and investigation of cases in care.
Knowing and intervening in psychological processes, to promote the development of knowledge and skills in students. Within the process of the career subjects related to the development of the human being are addressed such as: projective techniques, personality, psychological assessment, among others that provide the student the ability to know, interpret and analyze the theories of behavior and its real application in the development of the profession.
The Bachelor's Degree in General Psychology will be strengthened through the opportunities offered by the School of Health Sciences, which offers the space of the Psychology Clinic to students and the community in general. Additionally, it has a Gesell Chamber that allows observation, interview, analysis and investigation of cases in care.
The Bachelor's Degree in General Psychology provides a theoretical-practical approach for students in their academic training to promote the areas of study of their profession and thus achieve effective job performance in areas such as:

Not only in the psychologist's specialty, but also as a general psychologist, you can work for the assistance, the accompaniment or the generation of projects in front of certain problems and in economic sectors such as:

- Psychopedagogical offices.
- Public and private companies.
- Foundations.
All applicants must submit the following documentation duly scanned from the original and sent to the promoter to be uploaded to the respective platform:
- High school diploma or its equivalent.
- Accepted high school diplomas must include a science component, encompassing subjects such as chemistry, physics, and biology. Applicants whose high school diplomas do not include these components must complete and pass the corresponding preparatory courses, which will be provided by the University and must be completed before the start of the first semester.
- High school credits or grades or their equivalent
If you are a foreigner, the above mentioned documents must be apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of your respective country. In the event that the country does not have a consulate, you will have to go through the official authorities to validate it).
- Identity document, identity card or passport in case of foreigners and residing in Panama during their studies (In case the student is a minor, the juvenile identity card and the identity document of his/her guardian).
- A current passport-size photo
- Fill out the admission form in electronic format with the promoter.
Note: Students enrolled in the virtual modality whose nationality is different from Panamanian, must present a copy of their personal identity document from their country of origin (ID card or the one that replaces it).
Given the profile of the university's "NEO-CYBERHUMANIST" educational curriculum model, the student must:
- The permanence in the University will depend solely and exclusively on the student's motivation, capacity and vision to obtain the chosen academic degree.
- In order to pass each subject, the participant must obtain a minimum grade of 71 on a scale of 1 to 100, which is equivalent to item C.
- Maintain a cumulative academic index of not less than one (1.0) on a scale of one to three (1 to 3).
- Respect and comply with the regulations established by the statutes that regulate the relationship between the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology and the students of the Institution, taking into account the principles and values of the human being.
- Keep payments up to date.
- Attend at least 80% of scheduled meetings in face-to-face and semi face-to-face mode. In case of prolonged absence, you must duly present the argumentation that justifies it.
- For studies under the virtual modality, attendance is regulated by constant interaction in all activities planned on the platform, including synchronous and asynchronous meetings, as well as the development of the student's autonomous work.
- The student is responsible for the construction of their knowledge, willingness to work and collaborative learning, study in a team on their own, investigate, be self-taught and contribute to self-knowledge and self-motivation.
- For those students who lose academic continuity (i.e. defer or withdraw) and wish to continue their studies or did not fulfill their degree requirement, they must apply for reinstatement to the current program approved by CTDA and must comply with the validation and homologation regulations.
- The term of permanence at the University will be in accordance with the number of quarters that make up the academic program.
- The student in cases of force majeure or fortuitous event must submit to the contingency plans or document that takes its place.
- Attend twenty (20) hours of psychological care, at the University's office, in the first year of the degree.
- Complete and pass 80 hours of Psychological Counseling (social work), which begin in the 5th semester and must end in the 8th.
- At UMECIT, the social service component of the Bachelor's Degree in General Psychology is carried out through the Psychological Clinic, which includes 80 mandatory hours of supervised community service. This practicum is a requirement for continued enrollment and graduation, as it allows students to apply their knowledge in real-world contexts, provide psycho-emotional support to vulnerable individuals, and contribute to the promotion of mental health in the community.
TO OBTAIN THE BACHELOR'S DEGREE, THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED:
- Take and pass all the subjects of the study plan with a minimum grade of 71 points equivalent to a C.
- Maintain a cumulative academic index of not less than one (1.0) on a scale of one to three (1 to 3).
- Take and pass the English proficiency test.
- Complete and pass the professional practice, in accordance with current regulations.
- Complete and approve one of the following requirements:
- A knowledge test.
- Prepare, support and approve a project (degree work) in their area of knowledge.

Upon completion of the curriculum with 196 credits and fulfillment of the degree requirements, the title of Bachelor of General Psychology is awarded by the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT).
