Career Description

The International Labor Organization (ILO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) join forces every year to safeguard the life and well-being of workers so that they can carry out their activities within an accident-free work environment. There are many regulations at the international level that seek force through the obligatory nature of their compliance. The degree of compliance with all regulations on Occupational Risk Prevention, Health and Occupational Safety is related to the level of training and preparation of those whose objective is compliance with the provisions established in each country that develops. Therefore, it is essential that professionals, workers, employers and students acquire theoretical and practical skills in Prevention, which are developed through this Diploma.

The development of the OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND INDUSTRIAL SAFETY Diploma of the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT-, pursues the achievement of the following objectives:

General Objective

Train competent professionals who work in the field of Occupational Health, capable of intervening in work actions in favor of improving the health conditions and quality of life of people and increasing the productivity of the company.

Specific objectives

At the end of the Diploma, the student will be competent to:

  • Know the general concepts and the legal framework that regulates Occupational Health and Safety in the country of application;
  • Identify, evaluate and analyze risks at work through the design of plans and programs for the prevention of occupational risks;
  • Know and apply control mechanisms to reduce the risks of accidents and occupational diseases;
  • Create skills and abilities for occupational risk management within organizations;
  • Lead and promote the culture of Prevention of Occupational Risks and Illnesses in the workplace.

The Diploma is designed for the participation of:

  • Students close to finishing their academic college.
  • Technical career students.

  • University graduates with intermediate or higher education.
  • Workers of public or state companies, of all economic and labor activities.
  • Workers of private companies of all economic and labor activities.
  • Employers of public and private companies.
  • People with experience or empirical knowledge who want or need to obtain an official recognition certificate.

The student who completes the academic programming of the Diploma in OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND INDUSTRIAL SAFETY of UMECIT, will apply: knowledge, abilities, skills and values, through the performance of the following knowledge:
a) KNOW:

  • Through the concepts acquired, the graduate will have extensive knowledge for the application and execution of tasks in Occupational Risk Prevention.
  • The graduate will have knowledge of the national and international regulations in Occupational Health, thus forging it to a correct application in due time.

b) DO:

  • The graduate will be prepared to apply for vacancies as Field Inspectors, among others.
  • You will have experience, acquired in the practical activities carried out throughout the Diploma, to carry out an Occupational Risk Analysis in any commercial activity.
  • They will have skills and abilities for the Identification of Risks in the jobs of any organization and size.
  •  

c) BEING / LIVING:

  • The graduate will be more aware of the inherent and acquired risks that can develop in the workplace and will have the ability to identify and control them.
  • His work as a Preventionist will contribute to the prevention of occupational accidents, thus achieving greater stability at the organizational level and a better quality of life at the personal level of the collaborators.
  • It will contribute to the reduction of accident rates thanks to the application of Risk Analysis and Control of each one of them.
  • They will be able to reason and justify from normative and legislative points, any anomalous situation that is not addressed by their superiors.
  • You will know how to perform and work as a team.
  • The acquired knowledge can be exercised and practiced in your personal and family environment.
