Volleyball
UMECIT gives you the opportunity to become a player of the Men's and Women's University Volleyball Team. This sport encourages individual and group effort as a fundamental basis for achieving the goals set for the achievement of the expected results.
Our teams participate in university tournaments as well as external professional leagues, which can take place within the country, region or other latitudes.

- Be a student, administrator or teacher at UMECIT
- Have an updated and active accident policy (Applies only to students)
- Administrative and teaching staff (must sign liability release document)
- Be registered and attend training defined by location and discipline.

Meet the coaches
Volleyball

Carlos Vega
Carlos Alberto Vega Ríos is a former Panamanian national volleyball player with a distinguished career in international competitions, including Central American and Pan American tournaments, World Cup Qualifiers, Pre-Olympic tournaments, and NORCECA. He represented the country on the Junior and Senior National Teams between 2000 and 2009, achieving significant achievements such as first place in the Central American Championship.
After his retirement, he continued his work as a coach at the AFAVCER Volleyball Academy, the Metropolitan School of Panama, and the Panama Centro Provincial League, developing young people with values through sports. He has also volunteered in other disciplines, reaffirming his commitment to youth development.

Wigner Perez
Coach of the David Headquarters. He has had an outstanding career in the sports field, mainly in baseball, where he has represented Panama at both youth and senior levels. From 1999 to 2001, he was part of the Chiriquí National Team in the Intermediate-Youth category and then advanced to the Panama Youth National Team in 2001. He continued his career in the Chiriquí Provincial Team and in the Panama Senior National Team between 2016 and 2018. As a coach, Wigner has led several provincial and national teams, including youth women's and men's teams, in addition to being in charge of the Chiriquí West Youth Category in 2024. His technical training includes a Level 1 International Coaching Course completed in 2020, which demonstrates its commitment to excellence and sports development.
