As a historic act for our House of Studies, within the framework of the Inclusive Education Program led by the University Welfare Department, and in the presence of a commission from the Ministry of Labor and Labor Development -MITRADEL-; the Panamanian Institute of Special Qualification -IPHE-; of the National Secretariat for Disability -SENADIS and the Grupo Centinela Foundation, an emotional act was held with the signing of the formal contract for two young people with disabilities, who will start their working life at UMECIT.<\/p>

At the event, the rector, Jos\u00e9 Alberto Nieto Rojas, pointed out that the University welcomes them with all their hearts "hoping that their stay will be for many years and that together we will achieve a society that the world deserves...much better."<\/p>

He also pointed out that since UMECIT was an idea, there was already talk of inclusion, because the intention was to reach all places seeking personal development without prejudice or class conditions.<\/p>

"Society is made up of people with different characteristics and to the extent that we work on respect, we will create a better society," said Nieto Rojas.<\/p>

Alfredo Mitre, National Director of Employment of the Ministry of Labor and Labor Development -MITRADEL- celebrated the event that took place at UMECIT.<\/p>

\u201cToday we are here in a true celebration with the challenge that one day in our society inclusion will be normal. UMECIT is always innovating with inclusion issues\u201d and added Miter \u201cThe challenge is that within the University they are welcomed with respect and equality and we are all going to do that with their actions, not in better conditions but to make them feel the same\u201d, he pointed out.<\/p>

For his part, Miguel Atencio, National Deputy Director of the National Secretariat for Disability -SENADIS-, assured that this act serves as an example for other universities and that, in turn, the students will be an example for other young people with disabilities.<\/p>

In his turn, Luis Caballero from the Grupo Centinela Foundation, said that it is an honor that UMECIT fills them with joy allowing access for people with disabilities "because usually they do not qualify and when we come together to give opportunity, disability decreases and we improve the quality of lives of these people," he explained.<\/p>

The event was also attended by Marisa Canales, Director of the IPHE, representatives of the Inclusion Commission of the Council of Rectors of the Hosanna and Technological universities of Panama.<\/p>

And as a final surprise to close the event, the Ganexa Art University fulfills the dream of materializing the training in studying photography, awarding two scholarships for the new collaborators of UMECIT.<\/p>

The UMECIT INCLUSIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM <\/strong>seeks to strengthen and promote access opportunities, with inclusive practices, aimed at generating equal opportunities, in order to guarantee social equity.
