Within the framework of the "Learning environmental culture in Higher Education" program, the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology - UMECIT - will carry out this seminar led by experts from the\u00a0Ministry of the Environment<\/a>, with the purpose of making the population aware of climate change and the statistics that show the growth in natural disasters.<\/p>

Environmental education should be seen as a dimension of comprehensive education, where in each of the actions carried out, knowledge, interpretation and awareness of the socio-environmental problem are promoted globally and locally.<\/p>

In addition, it increases the awareness and knowledge of students about environmental issues or problems and provides the necessary tools to make informed decisions and responsible measures.<\/p>

Likewise, it can be seen as a process that allows participants to investigate environmental issues, get involved in problem solving and take measures to improve the environment from the understanding of environmental issues.\u00a0<\/p>

Hence the importance of the Learn Environmental Culture Program in higher education as a prevention strategy for environmental problems where future professionals at the service of the region are aware that their actions have an impact on the environment and generate attitudes and behaviors based on ecological ethics, vital to achieve sustainable environmental human development.<\/p>

From this dimension, environmental culture identifies environmental problems and links them to social, economic, political and cultural aspects and relates them to the development of society. Panama is a country with little culture of prevention in natural disasters. It will be due to the widespread concept that, due to the location of our subplate or tectonic block, it is very unlikely that earthquakes or natural disasters will develop, however according to UN statistics, more than 3 billion people are prone to experiencing a natural catastrophe, that this type of phenomenon is more frequent in urban centers, that the presence of more hurricanes with greater intensity is increasing in the Caribbean and that these hurricanes or tropical storms affect our territory in some way.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
