campus reaffirmed its commitment to scientific research and sustainable development, as it was represented by research professor Hermes Abdiel De Gracia, from the Bachelor&#039;s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, at the 1st Congress of Water Resources and Basins, organized by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), through the Faculty of Higher Studies Acatl\u00e1n, in Mexico City.<\/p><p>During this important international event, the researcher presented the paper entitled <i>\u201cRiver fragmentation and territorial transformation: the critical case of the Chiriqu\u00ed Viejo Basin in the face of hydroelectric expansion\u201d<\/i>, which constitutes a significant advance in the institutional research project that is developing focused on the study of the appearance of the water hyacinth (<i>Eichhornia crassipes<\/i>) due to fragmentation, an indicator of possible adverse conditions in water quality<\/p><p>UMECIT&#039;s participation in international academic spaces of this magnitude reaffirms its commitment to research excellence, environmental sustainability, and the training of professionals capable of generating solutions to
