In commemoration of Criminology Day, the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT), David campus, held the International Forum on Forensic Sciences on August 28 and 29. This event brought together leading national and international experts in the field of criminology and forensic science.<\/span><\/p>

During the forum, keynote presentations were given on topics of great relevance to forensic practice, including:<\/span><\/p>

  • Digital Evidence and Metadata: Challenges in Criminal Investigation \u2013 Sean V\u00e1squez (Mexico).<\/span>

    <\/span><\/li>
  • Dactyloscopy and lofoscopy: current techniques \u2013 Wilber Torres (Peru).<\/span>

    <\/span><\/li>
  • Digital forensics and cybercrime \u2013 Mg. Lizbardo Orellano Benancio (Peru).<\/span>

    <\/span><\/li>
  • The crime scene: common mistakes and best practices \u2013 Lic. Henry Cede\u00f1o (Chiriqu\u00ed, Panama).<\/span>

    <\/span><\/li>
  • Challenges of forensic medicine in Panama: scenes and expertise \u2013 Dr. Ariel Flores (Chiriqu\u00ed, Panama).<\/span>

  • Forensic fingerprinting in Panama \u2013 Carlos Gonz\u00e1lez (Chiriqu\u00ed, Panama).<\/span>

  • Professional Ethics in Forensic Sciences \u2013 Brandon Mendoza and Ixchel L\u00f3pez (Mexico).<\/span>

    In addition, students from the Forensics programs at the Santiago and David campuses presented progress reports on their research projects, demonstrating their commitment to critical thinking, scientific research, and innovation in the field.<\/span><\/p>

    The opening ceremony was led by Hermes Sierra, Academic Vice-Rector, and Myriam Agudelo, coordinator of the David campus, who highlighted the importance of creating academic spaces that strengthen the training of future professionals in this discipline.<\/span><\/p>
