University Extension is one of the substantive functions of the University, along with research and teaching, and focuses on promoting cultural development and the transfer of knowledge and culture between the various social sectors of the community.<\/p>

This commitment is materialized in activities that transcend the walls of the institution, reaching the community in general. These activities include courses, conferences, workshops, continuing education programs, advisory services, cultural events, among others, with the aim of facilitating access to knowledge and contributing to the social, cultural and economic development of society.<\/p>

It is essential to highlight that the University Extension Directorate not only fulfills a local function, but also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development .<\/p>

The SDGs address a wide range of social, economic and environmental challenges facing the world. These include the eradication of poverty, the fight against climate change, the promotion of gender equality, and access to quality education and health care, among others.<\/p>

Each goal has specific targets associated with them, and countries have committed to working towards their achievement in the coming years. The SDGs constitute a comprehensive guide to promote sustainable development and provide equitable opportunities for all people.<\/p>

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals are:<\/p>

  1. End poverty in all its forms.<\/li>
  2. End hunger and achieve food security.<\/li>
  3. Ensure healthy living and promote well-being for all.<\/li>
  4. Guarantee inclusive and equitable quality education.<\/li>
  5. Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.<\/li>
  6. Guarantee the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation.<\/li>
  7. Guarantee access to affordable and sustainable energy.<\/li>
  8. Promote sustained and inclusive economic growth.<\/li>
  9. Build resilient infrastructure and promote sustainable industrialization.<\/li>
  10. Reduce inequality within and between countries.<\/li>
  11. Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe and sustainable.<\/li>
  12. Guarantee sustainable consumption and production patterns.<\/li>
  13. Adopt urgent measures to combat climate change and its effects.<\/li>
  14. Conserve and sustainably use the oceans and marine resources.<\/li>
  15. Protect, restore and promote the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems.<\/li>
  16. Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development.<\/li>
  17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Alliance for Sustainable Development.<\/li><\/ol>
