\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThis Diploma is offered with the idea of training a competent individual, who, in addition to having solid knowledge in specific skills of the agro-industrial sector, has a general conception of the projects that can be promoted and managed with the resources that nature and the environment provide.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Diploma in Agroindustrial Projects<\/strong> was created from the need to promote the agricultural sector, due to the stagnation of this sector that was evidenced by the Report of the High Commission of the Public Policy of Employment in Technical and Professional Occupations in the year 2014. Said report indicated that the agricultural sector it grew by 0.9% in the last decade (2004 to 2013) and generated employment for 17.1% of the Panamanian population. Additionally, it was detected that rural areas had the highest poverty rates during the period 2009 to 2013, with a poverty rate of 49.4%, compared to 13.8% in urban areas.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

According to document CAD No. 365 of November 16, 2018 of the National Competitiveness Center of Panama, the behavior of the agricultural sector "about 30 years ago, the sector represented 8.9% of the composition of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), while to 2017 it represents only 1.9% of the total production\u201d.<\/p>

Regarding the growth of this sector in the national economy, the previously mentioned document reveals the following:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u00abThe activity has shown little growth in the last ten years, the sector has suffered significant falls, the most marked occurred in 2009 with a decrease in activity of 14.6% caused by the impact of the world crisis where fruit exports did not traditional also fell. The behavior of the activity of the agricultural sector seems to be disconnected from the trend of the total Gross Domestic Product, which continues to grow even with a slowdown, but the agricultural sector does not grow at the same speed. The foregoing can be seen in 2015, in which the economy grew by 5.6%, while agricultural activity decreased by -0.8%, which suggests that this sector failed to take advantage of the circumstances that allowed it to achieve positive results in total GDP. .\u201d<\/em>\n\n"Regarding employment, what is registered in the activity of agriculture, livestock, hunting, fishing, forestry and other related activities gives us an approach to the employment generated as of August 2017, which reached 14.5% of total jobs (258,831 people ), of which 75.4% are men and 24.6% are women. On the other hand, 45% of the rural employed are dedicated to the aforementioned activity, while only 2% of the employed are from the urban area. For the measurement of 2017, those employed in the activity of agriculture, livestock, hunting, fishing, forestry and other related activities grew by 4.8% although below other economic activities. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe projection that this Diploma in Agroindustrial Projects has, lies in the current agenda of the National Policy of Panama, where the agreements and free trade treaties signed with other countries allow the opening of economic borders, and therefore the entry of products agricultural products that are also produced in our country, which promotes competition between imported and national producers, and forces our producers to become more technical and innovate their products and modes of production. From the above, the need to train producers in these areas is created so that their products can be competitive. The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology "UMECIT"<\/strong>, Institution duly authorized to operate in Panamanian territory by Executive Decree 575 of July 21, 2004, and accredited by CONEAUPA through Resolution 15 of October 31, 2012<\/strong>, and that since its inception has developed the virtual modality in its academic processes, being a pioneer of this modality in the country; It has 16 years of experience in teaching academia through this modality of study, and together with the face-to-face and blended modalities, it has managed to cross borders to export education to the Republic of Colombia, through the use of technological tools.
